The Issues

Polluting, open fires and inefficient stoves cause many harmful impacts that impede economic and social development in developing countries.

Cleaner, more modern stoves and fuels have the potential to reduce deaths from smoke-related illnesses, mitigate climate change, and lower air pollution.

They also can provide new sources of livelihoods for women — while reducing the risk and drudgery of fuel collection — and can lower household expenditures on cooking fuel. The Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA) supports the development, sale, distribution, and consistent use of clean cooking solutions that transform lives.
