| Clean Cooking Activities | Nyalore Impact visits learning institutions i.e schools and colleges, hotels and public barazas meetings to sensitize the public and the community on clean cookstoves and healthy cooking fuel alternative - briquettes. We outline the environmental and climate benefits of clean cookstoves and briquettes i.e reduced smoke and conservation of the forests. The health value of clean cookstoves and briquettes, such as prevention of bronchial problems due to smoke inhalation by mothers and children while cooking. Social family relation improvement by having men/children joining their wives/mothers in the kitchen as they cook. Reduction of social problems of rape and pregnancies among girls and reduce school dropout rates. More productive time for women for other economic activities and family time. School girls have more time for studies and other welfare activities for the youths. Formation and capacity building of women groups in rural areas within Homa Bay county, and sourcing and selling of clean cookstoves and briquettes. Empowering women groups by training them on how to manufacture clean cookstoves and briquettes locally. We have also brought the technology to the community by identifying a local youth polytechnic to start offering a course on clean cookstoves for future generations and entrepreneurial opportunities in the county. Promote local tree nurseries and planting of trees in different places and promoting apiculture as an economic activity and afforestation. |
| Partnership | Nyalore Impact would support education on adaption/attitude and behavior change of the community by hiring more staff to reach different parts to attend more meetings/public barazas. For more women groups to empower themselves, we will support their entrepreneurial development skills through trainings and manufacturing of clean cookstoves and briquettes locally in Kenya and in neighbouring countries. We hope to: promote tree nursery farming in rural areas and conduct more tree planting campaigns; receive the latest technologies trainings for clean cookstove and briquettes manufacturing for commercial production in the rural areas; visit more institutions; provide installations of clean cookstove; and supply clean cooking fuel i.e briquettes. We will also aim to start youth clubs in institutions and schools on the important of a clean environment, while also building a fabrication and maintenance site for briquette machines for women groups. This would also serve as a training and learning place on waste management and value additions for agricultural and other industrial waste. We will reach more rural and remote areas with our staff, thus bring more change and adaptation of a wide population with improvements in the environment and climate. We will also create rural employment for women/youths by bring briquette manufacturing to rural communities. We will bring development impact on the environment and economic empowerment of households and livelihoods in Kenya. We shall help the Kenya Government supports its Vision 2030 program and work to increase forest cover to help contribute solutions to climate change challenges in the world today and for future generations. We shall contribute to improved household health and help reduce social problems in the community and nation. |
