MissionWe are a partnership of Purdue University, Moi University, AMPATH Kenya, and the Nandi community. Our mission is to work towards an improvement in the respiratory and cardiovascular health of women in Nandi county, Kenya through coordinated efforts by Nandi women’s groups to develop and implement kitchen ventilation modifications that reduce exposure to indoor air pollution.

Clean Cooking ActivitiesWe are working closely with the Nandi community of western Kenya to reduce indoor air pollution through kitchen ventilation modifications developed by Nandi women's groups that preserve traditional cooking techniques. Through our partnership with AMPATH Kenya, we are developing a plan of action to scale kitchen ventilation modifications across Nandi. These efforts will incorporate AMPATH’s micro-finance scheme, Group Integrated Savings for Empowerment (GISE).
PartnershipWe would like serve as representatives of the Alliance's mission in AMPATH's catchment area of 5 million people in western Kenya. On the Purdue-side, we bring expertise in the assessment of indoor air quality and human exposure and wood smoke characterization. Our partners at Moi University are focused on diagnosing and improving respiratory and cardiovascular health among the Nandi people and AMPATH Kenya brings a holistic approach to healthcare, identifying indoor air pollution as one of their six health challenges in western Kenya.
