Georgia Tech Institute of Technology Engineers Without Borders
| Mission | EWB-GT's Nicaragua project’s mission is to improve the health and well-being of the Nuevo Amanecer community members by connecting them with clean-burning efficient stoves, allowing for mitigation of health risks and environmental impacts. The goal is to improve the respiratory health of the community through designing and implementing clean cook stoves as well as educating the community about the importance of air quality. |

| Clean Cooking Activities | After returning from our previous assessment trip in August of 2014, we started to look into a broader range of clean cook stoves. At this point, we realized that educating the people of Nuevo Amanecer is just as important as designing/implementing clean cook stoves. While our technical team is still trying to find the best cook stove for Nuevo Amanecer, we are also looking into implementing pre-existing cook stoves, propane-burning stoves, or modifying pre-existing cook stoves, and educating members of the community. |
| Partnership | GT-EWB would like to participate in the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves so that we can improve our own designs and help improve the designs of other teams with our research. GT-EWB is comprised of students on the campus of Georgia Institute of Technology. GT-EWB has access to lab space and design software as well staff GaTech staff members that allows for a established research setting. The project also has a partnership with a community in Nicaragua allowing access to real world data. GT-EWB needs help in procuring resources as well gaining expertise in cookstove design, construction, and implementation. |
