MissionThe Technology Exchange Lab (TEL) is a nonprofit organization based on two simple precepts:

High-impact, low-cost technologies can significantly improve lives and promote environmental sustainability across the developing world

Free choice of appropriate solutions by well-informed end users has far better outcomes than traditional top-down selection and distribution

While new, innovative solutions designed to sustainably alleviate poverty are emerging every day, the lack of reliable product and sourcing information leaves many communities, NGOs and entrepreneurs in developing regions disconnected from the supply chain.

TEL, a 501(c)(3) enterprise founded by MIT Sloan alumni with firsthand experience in poverty-challenged regions, is aimed directly at closing the gap between innovators and the communities whose need for cost effective, sustainable solutions is most urgent. With detailed, curated information on over 400 solutions in six key areas (Energy, Water & Sanitation, Agriculture, Education & IT, Housing & Transport, Health & Medical Care), TEL’s online platform has already become a destination for communities, grassroots NGOs, inventors, emerging market small businesses and social entrepreneurs from around the world.

Going beyond a catalogue of products and methods, TEL's custom platform leverages the input of solution providers, partners and TEL’s own researchers and volunteers for maximum efficacy. The result: an up-to-date, curated, globally accessible center for proposing, promoting and learning about sustainable technology solutions for the developing world.

Clean Cooking ActivitiesWith the core information bank in place, proven and growing rapidly, TEL has begun new programs to promote discovery, organizational collaboration as well as dissemination of technology-based solutions to problems of poverty and sustainability.

In partnership with community supported grassroots initiatives and NGOs in developing regions, TEL is engaging in projects to actively distribute solar energy and water sanitation solutions to over 30,000 end users in India, Uganda and Peru.

TEL has yet to launch implementation programs specifically focused on the dissemination and adoption of clean cookstoves.  However, with over 30 clean cookstove innovations in its database and a corresponding global network of solution providers, TEL is receptive and prepared to provide support to its pipeline of end users looking to overcome barriers to the adoption of clean cookstove technology.
PartnershipGiven TEL's database of cleancookstoves, network of innovators and close ties to Boston-based universities, TEL could play a strong role as a connector for GACC and a champion of its cause.

Furthermore, as TEL continues to grow and execute implementation programs to disseminate appropriate technology solutions, TEL is well positioned to help overcome barriers to the adoption of clean cookstove technology across developing regions worldwide.
