Peter George is the Senior Advisor of Private Sector & Investment at the Clean Cooking Alliance (CCA). He has spent the last 10 years as a leading voice in impact investing in the energy access sector. He is a passionate thought leader on achieving economic, social, and environmental impact through scalable models for distributed renewable energy in sub-Saharan Africa, developing Asia, and Latin America. He has designed and managed market development and impact investment programs supported by the World Bank, Sida (Sweden), DfID (UK), Norad (Norway), Formin (Finland), DGIS (NL), and numerous private foundations. Prior to his transition to impact investing and international development, he spent five years in energy investment banking at Merrill Lynch in Houston and in energy private equity at ArcLight Capital Partners in Boston, a leading firm that has raised over $19 billion globally since inception. He is an experienced and trusted advisor to management teams, has developed numerous equity and debt funds for early-stage investments in Africa, has undertaken all aspects of the investment process in venture-backed and publicly-traded companies, is an active angel investor, and has served as both an executive and non-executive member of the Board of Directors of companies in multiple countries. A dual UK and US national, Peter is based in Amsterdam.
